Job Title:
Machine Assembler Job Description This role focuses on building fully custom machines and equipment from start to finish in a clean, well-organized manufacturing environment. You will assemble, install, and align complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems while working from detailed engineering drawings, blueprints, and schematics. The position offers hands-on work with a wide variety of machines, frequent problem-solving, and opportunities to develop advanced technical skills under the guidance of experienced assemblers. Responsibilities Build complete custom machines and sub-components from start to finish according to engineering specifications. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and schematics to guide assembly and installation activities. Assemble, install, and align mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components using appropriate hand and power tools. Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to perform assembly, adjustment, and installation tasks. Identify, diagnose, and troubleshoot hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical issues that arise during assembly. Fabricate parts as needed using machine shop equipment such as mills, lathes, and saws to meet design specifications. Verify that assemblies meet required specifications and tolerances, and make adjustments or corrections as necessary. Assess and resolve assembly problems by analyzing root causes and implementing effective solutions. Perform basic welding tasks when required to support machine building and component fabrication. Work collaboratively with other assemblers and technical staff to ensure machines are completed accurately and on schedule. Essential Skills Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics (required). Experience working in an industrial, manufacturing, or mechanical environment (required). Proficiency with hand tools and power tools used for mechanical and electrical assembly. Ability to assemble, install, and align mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components. Experience identifying and troubleshooting hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical issues. Capability to use machine shop equipment such as mills, lathes, and saws for part fabrication. Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on repair or mechanic experience. Ability to follow detailed engineering instructions and verify that assemblies meet specifications. Solid understanding of safe work practices in a shop environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Custom machine building experience (preferred). Experience with welding, including basic fabrication work (preferred). Experience working with hydraulic systems and components (preferred). Experience working with pneumatic systems and components (preferred). General mechanic experience, including repair and maintenance work (preferred). Forklift experience or comfort working around material handling equipment (preferred). Two-year technical degree in a related field (nice to have). Strong troubleshooting mindset and ability to resolve assembly problems independently. Why Work Here? Work Environment You will work in a clean, well-lit, and organized facility that supports focused and safe assembly work. The team consists of approximately 30 employees across the shop and office, creating a collaborative environment where you can interact closely with colleagues and mentors. Standard hours are Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., providing a consistent daytime schedule. The shop environment includes access to machine shop equipment such as mills, lathes, and saws, along with common hand and power tools used for mechanical and electrical assembly. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Saint Paul, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $29.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
