Job Title:
Mechanical Assembler Job Description This role focuses on mechanically upfitting Ford Transit vans by installing and pre-assembling shelving units and related components. You will work in an underground facility dedicated to automotive upfitting, using hand and power tools to complete high-volume, detail-oriented assembly work while following blueprints and measurements. Responsibilities Perform mechanical upfitting on Ford Transit vans, including installation of shelving units and related components. Pre-assemble shelving and subassemblies prior to installation in the vehicles. Use hand and power tools, such as impact drills and screwdrivers, to complete assembly tasks safely and efficiently. Read and interpret blueprints and diagrams to ensure accurate placement and installation of components. Measure and mark materials using tape measures to maintain precise dimensions and alignment. Work as part of a team of 10 or more assemblers to complete upfitting projects on schedule. Contribute to a fast-paced production environment by completing work on up to 20-30 vans per day. Inspect completed installations for quality, fit, and finish, and make adjustments as needed. Follow safety procedures and use provided personal protective equipment, including eye and ear protection. Maintain a clean and organized work area and handle tools and equipment with care. Essential Skills At least 1 year of mechanical assembly experience. Proficiency with hand and power tools, including impact drills and screwdrivers. Ability to read and interpret blueprints. Ability to accurately read and use tape measures. Experience with mechanical assembly, installation, and subassembly work. Strong attention to detail in a fast-paced production environment. Comfort working in an automotive or upfitting setting. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in automotive upfitting facilities is highly beneficial. Experience in automotive service or related roles, such as lube technician, is a strong plus. cabinet building, shelving installation, or similar mechanical installation work. Familiarity with mechanical assembly in an automotive or industrial environment. Why Work Here? The dress code requires steel-toe footwear, jeans or work pants, and a work shirt. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
