Job Title:
Mechanical Assembler Job Description We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Assembler to join our engine line team. The ideal candidate will have experience with various tools and may assist with prepping parts for painting. Experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred, especially for those with experience in car mechanics or construction. Responsibilities Perform assembly and pre-paint preparation including masking, sanding, and painting. Troubleshoot, repair, and train others on mechanical tasks. Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and standard work instructions. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area. Follow verbal or written instructions and quality standards accurately and safely. Assemble and test parts and components for locomotive engines and alternators. Fasten sub-assembly parts with bolts, screws, and other fasteners. Route and apply electrical wiring harnesses, hydraulic fluid, and fuel lines. Prepare engines for testing by filling with fuel, coolant, and hydraulic oils. Operate engine test cell equipment and perform pressure decay tests. Diagnose and repair engine malfunctions to meet quality standards. Conduct preventive maintenance on machines and check for operational issues. Move units in and out of paint booths and power wash units for painting. Lift and carry up to 35 pounds, and push and pull up to 50 pounds. Essential Skills Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, torque tools, and gauges. Ability to perform assembly and pre-paint tasks. Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, and welding tasks. Experience in reading schematics and blueprints. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with specialized engine testing equipment. Capability to troubleshoot and repair complex assemblies. Shifts are available with training provided on the first shift before moving to the second shift. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Winston-Salem, NC.
