Mechanical Assembler Job Description This role involves assembling mechanical equipment in a manufacturing environment, using hand and power tools to build and assemble components according to assembly drawings. The position requires at least 1 year of mechanical assembly experience in an electronic or mechanical manufacturing setting and offers a full-time, first-shift schedule with potential for long-term employment after an initial contract period. Responsibilities Read and interpret assembly drawings to accurately assemble equipment. Assemble and build mail automation equipment and related mechanical assemblies. Use a variety of hand tools and power tools to assemble components and hardware. Recognize and correctly use mechanical parts such as pulleys, bearings, springs, and gears during assembly. Identify and install hardware including screws, bolts, nuts, washers, and snap rings. Work independently on assigned tasks, ensuring accuracy and timely completion. Collaborate effectively within a team environment to complete larger assembly projects. Lift and move components up to 40 pounds repeatedly throughout the day. Stand for the majority of the shift while performing assembly tasks. Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area. Participate in overtime and occasional weekend work as needed to meet production demands. Comply with all company policies, including required drug testing. Essential Skills Minimum of 1 year of mechanical assembly experience in an electronic or mechanical manufacturing environment. Ability to read and understand assembly drawings and blueprints. Ability to recognize mechanical parts such as pulleys, bearings, springs, and gears. Ability to identify hardware including screws, bolts, nuts, washers, and snap rings. Proficiency using hand tools for mechanical assembly tasks. Proficiency using power tools in a production or manufacturing setting. Capability to lift up to 40 pounds repeatedly and stand for the duration of the shift. Strong dependability, punctuality, and attention to detail. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Willingness to submit to a drug test as part of the hiring process. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience assembling mail automation equipment or similar machinery is a plus. Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with a variety of mechanical components. Organized and detail-oriented approach to work in a production environment. Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a strong team. Demonstrated diligence and reliability in past roles. Openness to overtime and weekend work when production needs increase. Interest in long-term career growth, including potential development into field technician or installation roles. Work Environment The role is based in a climate-controlled manufacturing facility with a strong team-oriented culture. You will work full time on the first shift, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with overtime and occasional weekend work as production demands increase. The environment involves regular use of hand tools and power tools to assemble mechanical equipment, standing for most of the shift, and lifting up to 40 pounds throughout the day. The facility is air-conditioned and designed to support efficient production while maintaining a comfortable and professional workplace. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plano, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
