Metal Shop Assistant Express Employment - 3.8 Chandler, AZ Job Details Full-time $19.75 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Measuring tapes Customer communication Metal materials Dimensional measurements Full Job Description We are seeking a reliable and detail‑oriented Metal Shop Assistant who can support daily shop operations while also providing excellent customer service at the front counter. This role requires someone who can read measurements accurately, safely handle and cut metal materials, and interact professionally with customers picking up orders, placing requests, or asking for assistance. The ideal candidate is hands‑on, safety‑minded, and comfortable working both in the shop and at the customer counter. Key Responsibilities Shop & Material Handling Read and interpret tape‑measure measurements accurately. Safely handle, move, stage, and organize metal materials . Cut metal using chop saws and other basic shop tools . Assist with loading and unloading materials for customers and delivery drivers. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area at all times. Follow all shop safety procedures , PPE requirements, and equipment guidelines. Customer Service & Counter Support Greet customers in a professional, friendly manner. Assist customers at the front counter with orders, material questions, or product pickup. Provide accurate information about materials, cuts, and shop capabilities. Communicate clearly with customers about wait times, order details, and safety procedures. Handle basic paperwork, tickets, or POS entries related to customer orders. Represent the company with excellent communication and service skills . Qualifications Experience in a shop, fabrication, warehouse, or material‑handling environment preferred. Ability to read a tape measure accurately down to 1/16" required. Comfortable operating chop saws and basic cutting tools (training provided). Strong customer service skills and professional communication. Ability to lift, move, and stage metal materials safely (up to 50 lbs). Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions. Team‑oriented, positive attitude, and willingness to help wherever needed. What We're Looking For Someone who is customer‑focused , friendly, and professional.
