Job Title:
Deburr Operator Job Description The Deburr Operator plays a key role in finishing and preparing precision parts by performing deburring, grinding, sanding, and polishing operations according to detailed work instructions. This is an entry-level, hands-on production role with direct supervision and structured on-the-job training over a minimum of six months, offering the opportunity to acquire foundational skills in shop operations and the use of standard measuring and finishing equipment. Responsibilities Perform deburr operations in accordance with work order callouts and established work instructions. Use hand tools, grinding tools, sanding tools, and polishing equipment to remove burrs and finish parts to required specifications. Complete all paperwork associated with work instructions and job functions accurately and on time. Work in various areas of the shop as designated by supervision on an as-needed basis to support production requirements. Maintain a clean, organized work area at all times in alignment with 5S standards. Follow written, oral, and diagrammed instructions and apply common sense understanding to complete routine tasks. Operate basic shop equipment such as bench grinders, bead blasters, disc sanders, and belt sanders under close supervision. Handle small, delicate parts carefully while using standard measuring equipment to verify dimensions. Comply with all safety procedures, including proper use of equipment and adherence to shop guidelines. Drive and operate a forklift as required to move materials, following all safety and operational procedures. Essential Skills High school diploma or GED. Entry-level role with little or no prior relevant work experience required. Ability to acquire basic skills to perform routine entry-level operator tasks. Acceptable aptitudes and communication skills to follow instructions and work effectively with others. Minimum near and far vision of 20/30 in both eyes, corrected or uncorrected, with the ability to meet specific close vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment requirements. Manual dexterity to handle small, delicate parts while using hand-held standard measuring equipment. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Strong communication and cooperation skills to work within a supervised production environment. Comfort working with prescribed tasks that are completed with little autonomy and under clearly defined procedures. Ability to frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds. Ability to drive and operate a forklift in a production environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity or willingness to learn the use of height gages for dimensional inspection. Ability to use digital calipers to measure parts accurately. Exposure to or training in the use of pi tapes for measuring diameters. Basic understanding of micrometers and their use in precision measurement. Interest in developing skills in polishing and deburring processes. Ability to operate a bench grinder safely and effectively. Experience or training in using a bead blaster for surface finishing is a plus. Ability to work with disc sanders and belt sanders as part of the finishing process. Comfort working in a structured environment with close supervision and clear procedures. Willingness to participate in ongoing on-the-job training to develop specialized shop skills. Why Work Here? You will regularly use tools such as height gages, digital calipers, pi tapes, micrometers, bench grinders, bead blasters, disc sanders, and belt sanders, as well as operate a forklift to move materials. The work is physically active, requiring frequent lifting and moving of up to 50 pounds and sustained close vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. The environment follows 5S principles, emphasizing cleanliness and organization, and you are expected to dress appropriately for a production shop setting with suitable safety gear as required.
