In this role, you'll be responsible for staining and finishing wood mouldings to precisely match hardwood flooring colors, ensuring a seamless, professional look for our clients. This is a workshop-based position — no on-site installation of flooring or mouldings is required. Key Responsibilities Color-match mouldings to hardwood flooring samples using stain blending, custom mixing, and color theory. Prepare moulding surfaces for staining, including sanding, cleaning, and filling as needed. Apply stains, sealers, and topcoats (e.g., polyurethane, lacquer) evenly and consistently across batches of moulding. Maintain color consistency across multiple runs and large orders. Inspect finished pieces for quality, uniformity, and defects before they leave the workshop. Keep accurate records of stain formulas and color-matching recipes for repeat orders. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe finishing station, including proper ventilation and handling of stains, solvents, and finishing products. Manage inventory of staining and finishing supplies, flagging reorder needs. Collaborate with the production team to prioritize orders and meet turnaround deadlines. Qualifications Prior experience in wood staining, finishing, cabinetry, millwork, or a related trade preferred. Strong color-matching skills and attention to detail. Familiarity with different wood species and how they absorb stain differently. Knowledge of finishing products (stains, sealers, topcoats) and proper application techniques. Ability to work efficiently while maintaining high quality standards, especially on time-sensitive orders. Comfortable working with solvents and finishing chemicals following proper safety protocols. Physically able to stand for extended periods and handle moulding materials of varying lengths and weights. Preferred Skills Experience specifically matching mouldings or trim to hardwood flooring. Background in a woodworking, flooring, or finishing shop environment. Basic knowledge of hardwood flooring is a plus. Work Environment This is a hands-on, workshop-based role in Gardena, CA. The position does not involve customer-facing installation work — all staining and finishing is completed in-house before mouldings are shipped or handed off for installation by others. Accepting applications for full time and part-time stainers.
