Job Description

About the Role Innovative Design and Sheet Metal Products (IDSMP) is a custom fabrication company in Riverside, CA that builds specialized equipment for law enforcement and commercial vehicles. Our polyurea spray department is a core part of what makes our products stand out — and we're looking for an experienced Polyurea Sprayer to join the team. In this role you'll be responsible for the startup, daily operation, and hands-on maintenance of our Graco Reactor plural-component spray system and Fusion FX spray gun. You'll be spraying production parts — organizers, standard enclosures, false floor tops, and lids — and are expected to hit throughput targets while consistently delivering a quality finish with minimal rework. If you know polyurea and take pride in running a clean, efficient spray process, this is a strong opportunity with a direct path to Sprayer II. What You'll Do Perform startup and shutdown procedures for the Graco Reactor proportioner following IDSMP protocols Assemble, operate, and maintain the Fusion FX spray gun — including full disassembly, cleaning, and rebuild as part of regular maintenance cycles Spray standard production parts to coverage, thickness, and finish quality standards — maximizing throughput and minimizing touch-up rework Inspect finished parts before removal from the spray room, flagging any quality issues before they move downstream Log machine temperature, pressure, and ratio data each shift Operate exclusively with required PPE — no exceptions Follow all IDSMP isocyanate exposure control procedures. What We're Looking For Minimum 6 months of hands-on polyurea or plural-component spray experience in a production environment — this is a firm requirement Demonstrated proficiency with Graco Reactor startup/shutdown procedures and Fusion FX spray gun operation and basic rebuild Working knowledge of polyurea ratio, temperature, and pressure parameters for standard production settings Strict commitment to PPE compliance and hazardous chemical handling — you understand the risks of MDI-based isocyanate and take them seriously Ability to maintain production throughput while consistently meeting finish quality standards Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work efficiently in a chemical-intensive environment Important — Safety Requirements This role involves daily exposure to MDI-based polyurea chemicals. Candidates must be fully comfortable with the following non-negotiable requirements before applying: Mandatory use of a supplied-air respirator (SAR) while spraying — full-shift compliance required Full chemical PPE including gloves, coveralls, and eye protection in all spray areas Compliance with IDSMP's Isocyanate Exposure Control Plan and all applicable Cal/OSHA standards Ability to pass a baseline medical evaluation for respirator use if required
