Job Description
Metal Finisher Job Description The Metal Finisher prepares and refines metal parts by grinding, sanding, and polishing to meet production and quality standards. This role requires consistent physical activity, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment. Responsibilities Use various grinding techniques and equipment to finish metal parts according to specifications. Read and interpret basic instructions or blueprints to understand finishing requirements. Perform sanding, polishing, and other finishing processes to achieve smooth and consistent surfaces. Inspect parts visually and by feel to ensure they meet quality and finish standards. Handle and move metal parts, consistently lifting up to 30+ lbs as part of daily tasks. Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safe and efficient production. Follow all safety procedures when operating grinders and other finishing tools. Work collaboratively with production team members to meet output and quality goals. Adapt to changing priorities and support overtime work when production demands increase. Essential Skills Experience using a grinder in a production or manufacturing environment. Ability to lift up to 30+ lbs consistently throughout the shift. Ability to bend, sit, stand, twist, and stoop for extended periods of time. Proficiency in grinding metal parts using various techniques. Basic understanding of production processes related to metal finishing. Attention to detail to ensure consistent and high-quality finishes. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with polishing and sanding metal components. Familiarity with reading and understanding basic blueprints or work instructions. Comfort working with grinders, sanders, and other finishing tools. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position operates on a 2nd shift schedule, Monday through Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., with the possibility of overtime based on production needs. You work in a manufacturing or production facility using grinders, sanders, and polishing tools to finish metal parts. The role involves standing, bending, twisting, and lifting throughout the shift in an active, hands-on environment where safety procedures and proper attire appropriate for industrial work are required. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Cedar Falls, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
