Finisher/Fabricator Reports To :
Warehouse Manager Summary:
Responsible for the grinding and finishing of hollow metal frames and doors. Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Follows blueprints/work instructions to meet product specifications and finishing requirements
  • Set-up frames/doors for finishing
  • Uses and maintains powered hand grinders to prepare surfaces/welds for finish
  • Uses bondo and spray primer
  • Able to complete simple fabrication - use of cutoff saws and welding a plus
  • Moves material with appropriate equipment throughout the work area as needed.
  • Trains less experienced employees in set-up and quality production standards.
  • Complete daily production paperwork neatly and accurately
  • Reports production and or material discrepancies to management.
  • Maintains tools, equipment and work area in a clean, orderly and safe manner.
  • Complies with company policies and procedures paying special attention to safety regulations.
  • Notifies management of any large repairs needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma or Equivalent Prior grinding experience required

Chicago Doorways, established in 2000, is a customer-focused business providing quality commercial doors, frames and hardware in the Chicago metropolitan area and surrounding suburbs. We work closely with customers to make sure they get the specialized care, focused attention and exact products they need to successfully complete their projects. We are looking for a Grinder/Finisher to help with our welding and fabrication processes. This position requires the use of powered hand tools as well as moving heavy items regular basis. It requires frequent lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling. Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
