Job Description
Job Responsibilities Sets up machines and adjusts settings for various production tasks. Ensures compliance with safety and operational standards. Sands and grinds metal parts to achieve finish ready for painting and plating as required by the customer. Checks part quality by visual and touch inspection of the part to detect defects such as dents, scratches, or breaks in metal. Removes dents and weld welts and may perform limited tack welding to accommodate finishing of previously welded joints. Maintains tools for finishing operations (includes cleaning, oiling, storing, and other maintenance as required). Transfers sheet metal components from incoming load to work surface, following all safety procedures. Maintains a safe and clean workspace. Performs other duties as assigned. Job Skills Requirements Ability to operate various air tools. Ability to interpret technical documents and schematics. Good communication skills. Educational Requirements High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required. Certificate from college or technical school preferred. Experience Requirements One year of previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment required. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Physical & Environmental Requirements Some physical demand; often lifts light to heavy-weight material. Frequent lifting/moving average weight (up to 50lbs/11-27 kgs) material. Ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling and/or reaching over a full work shift (8-12 hours). Ability to operate motorized vehicles over a full work shift (8-12 hours). Ability to stand and / or walk constantly over a full work shift on concrete (8-12 hours). May be exposed to noise levels for which hearing protection is required to be worn over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
