Shop Float in Metals Manufacturing Midwest Staffing Group - 3.9 Arden Hills, MN Job Details Full-time From $18 an hour 20 hours ago Qualifications Moving Manufacturing facility Quality inspection Safety equipment Materials handling Manufacturing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Full Job Description Job Summary We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Shop Floater to join our metal manufacturing team. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys a variety of tasks and is willing to assist wherever needed on the production floor. The ideal candidate is flexible, safety-conscious, and committed to maintaining quality and productivity in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities As a Shop Floater, you may work in one area throughout the day or rotate between multiple departments based on production needs.
Responsibilities include:
Metal Finishing:
Grind and deburr metal parts to remove imperfections and prepare products for the next stage of production.
Cleaning:
Wash metal components using water and cleaning solutions to meet quality standards.
Machine Operation:
Load and unload CNC lasers and bending machines.
Testing:
Conduct quality inspections and pressure testing on manufactured products.
Material Handling:
Move, stack, organize, and palletize metal frames and components. Assist in other production areas and perform additional duties as assigned. Attendance & Conduct Expectations Attendance is
Essential:
Dependability and punctuality are critical. Employees seeking long-term opportunities must demonstrate excellent attendance.
No Cell Phones:
Cell phone use is prohibited on the production floor and is only permitted during scheduled breaks.
Drug-Free Workplace:
While marijuana is legal in Minnesota, employees may not report to work under the influence or use marijuana before their shift or during breaks. Employees who appear impaired or smell of marijuana will be sent home.
Follow Directions:
Employees are expected to follow instructions provided by Supervisors and Leads. Questions are encouraged if clarification is needed.
Break Schedule:
Employees receive one 30-minute lunch break and two 15-minute breaks. Breaks must be taken only at designated times.
Stay Productive:
When work slows down or a machine is not operating, employees are expected to seek additional tasks from their Lead or Supervisor. Work Environment & Safety This position requires standing and working on your feet for the entire shift. This is a metal manufacturing environment that can be loud, dusty, dirty, and physically demanding. Employees should wear work-appropriate clothing and avoid clothing they do not want exposed to shop conditions. Sweatpants and baggy clothing are not permitted. Jeans or durable work pants are required. Safety glasses and hearing protection will be provided. Sturdy, closed-toe work boots are required; steel-toe boots are highly recommended. Employees must never operate equipment they have not been trained to use. Safety is a top priority, and all hazards or concerns should be reported immediately. Qualifications Previous manufacturing, fabrication, or production experience is helpful but not required. Ability to work in a physically demanding environment. Strong work ethic, flexibility, and willingness to learn. Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
