Description Job Summary:
A Grinder will provide grinding support in Franklin. Ability and working knowledge of various hand tools is required.
Job Duties:
Ability and working knowledge in the operation of basic hand tools (sander, grinder, router, drill, rivet gun, reciprocating saw, hammer, tape measure, etc.) to perform various tasks of assembly or disassembly. Ability to read and follow blueprints is required so that the incumbent can determine required grinding methods and equipment. Must be able to interpret prints in order to verify conformance of finished product to the respective print. Ability to understand instructions and carry out tasks as required by supervision. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs., in repeated bending and stooping motions. Ability to work safely and keep work area clean. Ability to describe activities performed daily and account for them in the current timekeeping system. Ability to use various hand grinders and ability to sand blast, grind burrs, hand blocks, etc. Knowledge of correct wheels to be used to get a desired finish. Ability to make up own polishing wheels; example: compound wheels and build-up wheels.
Required tools:
measuring tape, set of wrenches for hand grinder. Provides assistance to others in other departments as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Skills/Abilities:
The qualified candidate will: Have the ability to operate a forklift. (will be trained/certified by SFPC.) Have the ability to stand and walk continuously throughout an eight-hour shift. Have the ability to perform bending/forming techniques over a lengthy time span. Have the ability to bend, stoop, lift, move, push and pull objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Have the ability to work in dirty conditions. Have the ability to use handheld grinders Ability to examine products or work to verify conformance to specifications. Be self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team. Be reliable, organized, and detailed oriented. Have the ability to maintain appropriate records or reports. Understand that the requirements of the job may change at times due to changing priorities of the company.
Essential Working Conditions:
While understanding the essential duties and responsibilities of the position, the employee must repeatedly stand, stoop, bend, listen, speak, and have the mobile ability to move throughout the shop. This position will work 8-hour shifts (some overtime may be required) in a noisy and dirty environment as well as during extreme temperatures. OT as required by customer demands
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
