Job Description

Sanding Associate Job Summary We are looking for a dependable Sanding Associate to join our production team. This position is responsible for sanding, scuffing, deburring, and preparing metal furniture components before they move to powder coating and final assembly. This is a hands-on manufacturing position that requires attention to detail, steady work pace, and the ability to perform repetitive sanding and surface preparation throughout the shift. The right candidate will be reliable, safety-conscious, and willing to learn. Responsibilities Sand, scuff, deburr, and prepare metal parts for powder coating Remove scratches, burrs, sharp edges, oxidation, and other surface imperfections Use handheld sanders, sanding blocks, abrasive pads, files, and other basic tools Inspect parts to make sure surfaces are clean and ready for finishing Lift, move, rotate, and position metal parts during the sanding process Handle raw or unfinished metal parts that may be sharp, heavy, or awkwardly shaped Follow job instructions, production priorities, and supervisor direction Report damaged parts, quality concerns, missing information, or safety issues Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe Wear required personal protective equipment and follow all safety rules Assist with other production or powder department tasks as needed Qualifications Previous manufacturing, sanding, powder coating, metal fabrication, or production experience preferred but not required Experience using handheld sanders, grinders, or abrasive tools is helpful, but not required Ability to follow verbal and written instructions Strong attention to detail Dependable attendance and punctuality Ability to work independently after training Willingness to work as part of a team in a production environment Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for most or all of an 8-hour shift Frequent bending, reaching, gripping, pushing, pulling, and twisting Repetitive use of hands, wrists, arms, and shoulders Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed Ability to handle large, awkward, or sharp metal parts safely Ability to work around dust, noise, vibration, heat, and normal manufacturing conditions Ability to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and protective footwear Schedule Full-time Monday through Friday Overtime available Day shift/Mid shift Work Environment This position is performed in a manufacturing environment. The work can be physically demanding and repetitive, but it is an important part of the production process. Sanding Associates help ensure parts are properly prepared so finished products meet quality standards before shipment.
