POSITION SUMMARY
This dual service roles of metal finisher / painter will prepare welded and laser cut surfaces of fabricated parts for use in a precision machine tool build environment by grinding, finishing and painting. This work utilizes powered grinders, sanders, and files within a brightly lit and air-controlled grind booth and cleans, masks, hangs, and wet-spray paints parts in a new, well-lit, high-technology paint booth with a
PAPR. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Inspects components and sheet metal parts for burrs, dents, and scratches, as well as excess weld material
  • Finishes components and sheet metal parts to prepare the parts for use, installation, or paint.
  • Verifies conformance to tolerances and finishes required
  • Prepares fabricated and machined components and sheet metal for paint, cleaning, masking, and hanging as necessary. Wet spray paints fabricated and machined components for a high-end finish
  • Utilizes all safety equipment required for the position, including, but not limited to, safety shoes, glasses, gloves, masks, helmets, PAPR, etc.
  • All other duties as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma plus 2 years of experience in a metal finishing and/or painting capacity or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Attention to detail and a desire to maintain high standards of workmanship
  • Applicant should be mechanically inclined, have good problem-solving skills, be able to work independently, be self-motivated and possess the ability to do highly accurate work that requires concentration and physical effort

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Regularly lifts up to 20 pounds unassisted, uses overhead cranes for lifts greater than 20 pounds.
  • Regularly stands for 8 hours
  • Regularly bends, stoops, reaches, crouches, climbs, and moves.
  • Regularly exerts up to 10 pounds of force and frequently exerts up to 25 pounds of force to move objects.
