Hourly / Non-Exempt Position Summary The Janitor/Custodian is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and organization throughout the manufacturing facility. This role supports QA/QC standards, food safety compliance, and overall operational safety. Responsibilities include cleaning and sanitizing common areas such as offices, breakrooms, and restrooms, as well as providing support to production and packaging areas to ensure sanitation requirements are consistently met in accordance with company and regulatory standards. Essential Duties & Responsibilities General Cleaning & Sanitation Clean and sanitize floors, walls, drains, break rooms, restrooms, offices, and other areas as needed. Remove trash, recycling, and waste materials in accordance with company procedures. Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, and pressure wash designated areas as required. Restock sanitation and keep inventory of cleaning supplies. Maintain cleaning tools and sanitation equipment in proper working condition. Follow Master Cleaning Schedule and cleaning checklist per established frequency. Handle and prepare cleaning chemicals, sanitizers, and chemical concentrations safely Other duties as assigned QA/QC & Food Safety Responsibilities Follow all GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) and food safety procedures at all times. Support QA/QC initiatives by maintaining sanitary conditions throughout the facility. Identify and report contamination risks, spills, leaks, pest activity, damaged materials, or unsafe conditions immediately. Use approved food-safe chemicals and follow SDS instructions and chemical handling procedures. Prevent cross-contamination by following cleaning procedures and designated sanitation practices. Ensure all cleaning documentation and sanitation logs are completed accurately and on time. Comply with regulatory, customer, and company food manufacturing requirements. Safety Responsibilities Follow all company safety procedures and wear required PPE. Operate cleaning equipment safely and properly. Maintain clear walkways and reduce slip, trip, and fall hazards. Report accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions immediately. Participate in safety meetings and required trainings. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous janitorial, sanitation, warehouse, or food manufacturing experience preferred. Knowledge of food manufacturing sanitation standards is preferred. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Strong attention to detail and reliability. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical Demands Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and repetitive motion. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly. Ability to work in wet, cold, hot, or humid manufacturing environments. Ability to safely use cleaning chemicals and sanitation equipment. Work Environment Food manufacturing facility environment. Exposure to noise, cleaning chemicals, machinery, and varying temperatures. PPE may include gloves, hairnets, beard nets, safety glasses, aprons, hearing protection, and slip-resistant shoes. Minimum Requirements Must comply with all company policies and food safety standards. Must maintain regular attendance and punctuality. Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Pay:
$15.00 - $17.00 per hour
