Job Summary:
The Quality Assurance Technician plays a key role in ensuring product quality, food safety, and compliance across the laboratory, warehouse, and production environments. This position requires cross-functional support and full competency in all QA tasks, regardless of the primary area of assignment. QA Technicians are expected to work collaboratively, maintain high standards, and step in for fellow team members as needed.
Job Duties :
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Must back-up all other QA technicians during lunches, breaks, and when they are on vacation or out of work
  • Responsible for quality, food safety, and personal safety
  • Checks email several times daily
  • Perform analytical and sensory testing on all sample retains and document in appropriate logs/forms when in the lab
  • Scale and equipment calibrations both in the lab and on the production floor
  • Perform production checks such as weights, Metal Detector/X-ray/In-line Magnet checks, tare weights, seals, labels, IBC and tote inspections, etc at the correct frequency
  • Monitor processes and procedures including but not limited to sanitation, preventative & corrective measures, processing & packaging areas, pest activity
  • Reviewing and approving raw ingredients prior to blending
  • Finished good pallet verification, validation, and approval after packing
  • Gather samples as needed for micros, customer samples and/or analytical testing
  • Monitor GMP's
  • Conducts pre-operational and post-operational inspections, document findings and follow-ups
  • Use of ATP and Allergen Protein Swabs
  • Document and monitor knife and utensil control program
  • Keeps lab clean and organized
  • Notifies manager of supplies needed at least 10 days prior to running out
  • Helps to review/verify records and file records
  • Creates and/or verifies labels for production
  • Warehouse and incoming/outgoing truck inspections
  • Immediately notify QA Supervisor if there is a risk to food safety, product quality, or personal safety
  • Has the ability and authority to "stop the line" if there is an immediate food safety or quality risk
  • Assist in food safety and quality investigations, corrective and preventative actions
  • Train new hires as needed once competent in all roles
  • Training on current and new equipment as well as industry standard processes required
  • All other duties as required
Required Competencies & Knowledge:
Knowledge of:
  • Carolina Ingredients (CI) procurement, products, and production processes.
  • ERP Knowledge and experience.
  • HACCP, SQF, GMP, State and Federal regulations
  • Prior QA experience in food manufacturing Skill in:
  • Maintain harmonious relations with employees from all departments.
  • Maintain harmonious relations with management from all levels.
Ability to:
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Successfully multi-task.
  • Ensure collaborative relationships with industry, trade, other associations, regulatory agencies and CII staff.
  • Lead "best in class" behaviors with focus on safety, quality, and policy focus.
  • Use intermediate to advanced computer skills to add further value to the QA Department.
Proficiency in:
MS Office Suite, Excel, SAP S4 Hana a
Plus Minimum Qualifications :
  • Minimum of an Associates College degree
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in food manufacturing or related industry.
