Job Title:
Entry Level Installer Job Description The Installer assembles, installs, disassembles, and relocates commercial furniture and specialty items in accordance with manufacturer standards and client specifications. This role involves loading and unloading trucks safely, performing precise installations and relocations, conducting quality checks, and maintaining clean, safe workspaces. The position requires frequent travel, strong physical stamina, and professional communication to support smooth project execution across multiple markets. Responsibilities Assemble and install commercial furniture, including desks, chairs, cabinets, panels, and modular systems, following manufacturer guidelines and client requirements. Load and unload trucks safely using blankets, padding, and proper securement methods to prevent damage and optimize truck space. Install specialty items such as artwork, window coverings, and additional fixtures as needed on client sites. Support relocation activities by moving boxes, filing cabinets, and furniture components using pallets and appropriate material-handling techniques. Perform quality checks to ensure all assembled and installed items are defect-free, stable, and aligned with project specifications. Communicate proactively with project leadership, including lead installers and market contacts, by providing updates, flagging issues, and coordinating tasks. Prepare, organize, and clean workspaces before, during, and after installation to maintain a safe and professional environment. Disassemble furniture and modular systems, palletize components, and relocate items to new locations as required by project plans. Operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for assembly, disassembly, adjustments, and field repairs. Use blueprints, layout drawings, and tape measures to interpret specifications and ensure accurate installation and placement. Apply carpentry and basic building skills to support furniture assembly, mounting, and structural adjustments when needed. Follow all safety procedures and best practices while lifting, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling in fast-paced installation environments. Interact professionally with clients and team members to ensure customer satisfaction and smooth project flow. Contribute to a team-oriented environment by supporting coworkers, sharing information, and assisting with project tasks as required. Essential Skills Demonstrated commercial furniture assembly expertise, including desks, panels, chairs, cabinets, and modular components built to manufacturer and client specifications. Proven ability to execute installation and relocation activities, including loading, unloading, staging, installing, securing, and relocating furniture and specialty items with precision and care. Competent operation of hand tools and power tools for assembly, disassembly, adjustments, and field modifications. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and use tape measures accurately to ensure correct placement and alignment. Physical stamina with the ability to lift 50 lbs consistently and perform regular bending, kneeling, reaching, pushing, and pulling. Professional, clear, and respectful communication skills when interacting with clients, leads, and team members. Travel flexibility with willingness and ability to travel approximately 75% of the time to support multiple markets. Strong attention to detail to ensure high-quality installations and thorough quality control. Positive, customer-focused attitude with a commitment to delivering a hassle-free experience. Team-oriented mindset and ability to work collaboratively in fast-paced project environments. Clean driving record suitable for work-related travel. High school diploma or equivalent education. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience using carpentry skills to support furniture assembly, mounting, and minor structural adjustments. Experience in commercial or office furniture installation environments. Familiarity with material-handling equipment and palletizing techniques for safe relocations. Work is performed on client sites and in transit, involving regular travel, physical activity such as lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching, pushing, and pulling, and frequent use of hand tools, power tools, tape measures, and other installation equipment. Dress and conduct are expected to be professional, reflecting a commitment to safety, cleanliness, and a high-quality customer experience. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Des Moines, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
