Compensation:
Piece-rate position. Approved hourly pay applies only to non-piece-rate time such as paid sick time, scrape/rework time as assigned, cleaning, shop support, meetings, training, or other approved non-production work. Pay details will be discussed during the interview process. Lakeland Pallets is hiring an experienced Pallet / Crate Builder for our Geneva, IL shop. This position is responsible for building pallets, crates, skids, and custom wood packaging based on job specs, cut material, and customer requirements. This is an experienced position. We need someone who can read a tape measure, use nail guns and shop tools safely, and step into production with limited basic training. Responsibilities Build pallets, crates, skids, and custom wood packaging Work from job paperwork, specs, cut sheets, and basic drawings Read a tape measure accurately Use pneumatic nail guns, hand tools, and shop equipment safely Assemble product square, tight, and to customer requirements Check finished work for size, quality, and accuracy before it moves forward Identify bad material, missing parts, or unclear specs and communicate issues Keep work area clean, organized, and safe Follow shop safety rules, production priorities, and quality standards Work steady and maintain production pace without cutting corners Required Experience Prior pallet, crate, wood packaging, construction, framing, carpentry, lumber, or similar hands-on building experience Ability to read a tape measure accurately Experience using nail guns, saws, hand tools, and basic shop equipment Ability to work safely in a production shop environment Dependable attendance and punctuality Ability to follow directions, job specs, and safety procedures Physical Requirements / Shop Conditions Stand and work on your feet for most of the shift Lift, carry, bend, reach, push, and pull throughout the day Handle lumber, pallets, crates, and shop materials Work around saws, nail guns, compressors, forklifts, and other shop equipment Work in a warehouse/shop environment with noise, dust, and changing temperatures Use required PPE and follow all safety procedures Benefits Benefits available based on company policy, including health, dental, and vision insurance after 90 days, and a 401(k) plan after 1 year.
