Full-Time Job Summary:
The Specialty Box & Crate Builder is responsible for constructing custom wooden boxes and crates based on specific measurements and designs to meet customer needs. This role requires attention to detail, comfort with power tools, and the ability to work independently. When not actively building custom orders, the builder will assist in general pallet or part assembly and help maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Primary Duties (Specialty Crate/Box Building): Read and interpret custom work orders, including size specifications and materials needed Build specialty wooden boxes, crates, and skids using tape measures, saws, nail guns, and other tools Verify proper dimensions, material quality, and structural integrity Ensure accurate assembly to protect high-value or delicate items during shipping Safely operate table saws, chop saws, and pneumatic tools Label or stencil finished crates/boxes as needed for shipment or storage Secondary Duties (When Not Building Boxes): Assist in general pallet and part assembly as directed by team leads Stage materials and prep boards for Woodpecker machine and hand-assembly areas Participate in clean-up duties , including sweeping, organizing materials, and removing scrap wood Help with restocking nails, tools, and fasteners in the production area
Qualifications:
Previous experience in carpentry, crate building, or pallet assembly preferred Ability to read tape measures and work from sketches or simple blueprints Skilled with hand and power tools (nail guns, saws, drills, etc.) Comfortable lifting up to 75 lbs. and working on your feet for extended periods Attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship Reliable attendance and ability to work independently or on a team
Working Conditions:
Industrial or warehouse setting with exposure to loud noise, wood dust, and heavy materials. PPE (safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots) must be worn at all times. Repetitive lifting, bending, and material handling throughout the shift. Work may take place indoors or partially outdoors depending on shop layout
Schedule & Availability:
  • Full Time 40hrs
  • Monday through Thursday 6:00am-4:30pm
  • Occasional extra hours based on production needs
Job Type:
Full-time Pay:
$18.00 - $22.00 per hour
