Job Description
Job description: Ethan Allen is seeking an experienced Furniture Repair Technician based at of our Houston, TX Service Center. Candidate must be skilled and well-versed in the repair of both wood furniture and upholstered furniture with relevant experience (Furniture Prep Technician, Furniture Deluxer, In-Home Technician, Shop Technician, Shop Manager, Outside Service Technician, etc). Pay rate starts at $25 per hour and increases based on experience. General Objectives Ability to perform both in-home service calls and work on furniture items in-shop at our Service Center warehouse to provide furniture repair services as necessary. Inspect and repair furniture in accordance with company standards and procedures. Provide exceptional service to our clients. Specific Responsibilities
- Inspect, Prep, and Repair furniture items at our Service Center warehouse.
- Perform in-home service calls to inspect and/or repair furniture items under manufacturer's warranty. Provide service call reports to the Customer Service Manager with actions such as repaired during call, order parts for future installation, or bring item in-shop for future repair.
- Coordinate with the Customer Service Manager to ensure furniture damage/defects are properly documented with pictures and notes so the Customer Service Manager can work with the Ethan Allen Warranty department on resolution. Share product knowledge and repair strategy options to help resolve client concerns.
- Repair, match and mix colors, and finish furniture as required.
- Install parts for both wood and upholstered items such as wood tops, drawer glides, upholstered panels, nail head trim, etc.
- Level case good items, replace mechanisms in motion upholstery, diagnose/correct frame and spring issues with upholstered items, etc.
- Assist with the proper storage of items and shop supplies, and general housekeeping in specific work areas assigned.
- Comply with all safety regulations established by the company.
- Maintain adequate supplies for work materials. Inform supervisor as the need arises for replenishment and stocking of work materials.
- Must be neat, clean, and in uniform when visiting customer residences.
- Perform all other duties as required.
Qualifications Education:
High school education or trade school education with courses in woodworking or cabinet making or comparable experience as apprentice.Experience:
At least four years experience in the furniture industry with wood furniture repair and upholstery repair experience. Relevant prior experience may include roles such as Furniture Repair Technician, Furniture In-Home Technician, Furniture Deluxer, or Furniture Prep Technician. Prior experience working on furniture items is required. Prior experience working directly in the client's home is preferred.Other Requirements:
A valid driver's license with a clean driving record with the ability to drive a company service van daily. Friendly, outgoing, customer focused demeanor with the ability to work directly with clients in their home to resolve issues. Ability to repair accents, case goods, and upholstery furniture items. Ability to refinish/color match wood furniture as required. Ability to reupholster items such as fabric/leather sofas, chairs, sectionals, etc. Requires good physical condition and ability to lift heavy objects. May require minimal holiday and weekend hours.Job Type:
