Full-Time | Direct Hire Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Centerless Grinder Operator with strong setup and precision grinding experience in a manufacturing or aerospace machining environment. This role is responsible for setting up and operating centerless grinding equipment to grind external and internal cylindrical surfaces, angles, contours, and tapered metal components to extremely tight tolerances. The ideal candidate will have experience with precision grinding, blueprint reading, machine setup, wheel dressing, SPC, and precision inspection equipment in a high-volume production environment. Key Responsibilities Setup and operate centerless grinding machines and precision grinding equipment Perform external and internal cylindrical grinding operations Mount and dress grinding wheels and regulating wheels to specification Set grinding speeds, feed rates, wheel spacing, and machine adjustments Determine sequence of grinding operations and amount of material removal Grind metal components to exacting tolerances of 0.0005 Read and interpret: Blueprints Engineering drawings Technical sketches Manufacturing process documentation Utilize precision measuring instruments including: Micrometers Calipers Gauges Inspection tools Perform first article inspections and in-process quality checks Maintain production logs, documentation, and computerized production records Troubleshoot machine setup and grinding process issues Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives Maintain safe operation of grinding machinery and adherence to OSHA standards Required Qualifications 1 3 years of experience operating centerless grinding equipment Experience with: Precision grinding Cylindrical grinding Machine setup Wheel dressing Tight tolerance machining Ability to hold tolerances to 0.0005 Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills Experience using precision inspection tools and measuring equipment Familiarity with SPC and manufacturing quality standards Basic computer skills and experience entering production data into computerized systems Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills Ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods Preferred Experience Aerospace manufacturing High-volume production machining Lean Manufacturing Precision metal components CNC grinding support equipment Continuous Improvement environments Work Environment This position works in a machine shop and manufacturing environment with exposure to: Grinding machinery Cutting oils and metalworking fluids Airborne particles Noise and vibration Moving mechanical equipment Proper PPE including eye protection, hearing protection, and safety equipment is required.
