Job Title:
Saw Operator / Machine Operator Job Description This role focuses on operating industrial sawing equipment to cut material to precise specifications in a production environment. You set up and run bandsaws and related machinery, accurately measure and verify dimensions, and follow detailed work orders and cutting instructions to ensure high-quality output. Responsibilities Set up and operate industrial sawing equipment, including bandsaws, to cut material to precise specifications. Read, interpret, and follow work orders and cutting instructions, both in written form and through computer programs. Measure material before and after cutting using tape measures and other measuring tools to verify accuracy of cut dimensions. Adjust sawing equipment settings, including blades, guards, feeding devices, and coolant flow, to maintain optimal cutting performance. Monitor sawing operations during production to ensure consistent quality and adherence to required tolerances. Complete production tasks efficiently while maintaining a clean and organized work area around the sawing equipment. Handle and position material safely for cutting, potentially using forklifts or other material-handling equipment where applicable. Document and report any equipment issues, quality concerns, or deviations from work orders to appropriate personnel. Follow all safety procedures related to machine operation, guarding, feeding devices, and coolant systems. Work overtime as required to meet production schedules and customer demands. Essential Skills Proven ability to set up and operate industrial sawing equipment, including bandsaws. Strong skills in measurement using tape measures and other measuring tools to verify precise cut dimensions. Ability to read and understand work orders and cutting instructions in both written and computer-based formats. Working knowledge of saws, blades, guards, feeding devices, and coolant flow in a production environment. Experience in machine operation within a manufacturing or production setting. Attention to detail and accuracy when performing measurements and verifying cuts. Capability to work overtime as required to support production needs. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience operating bandsaws specifically in a production environment. Saw operator or machine operator in manufacturing. Familiarity with production processes and workflow in an industrial setting. Forklift experience is a plus for material handling. Ability to read and understand blueprints or basic technical drawings. Comfort using various measuring tools to confirm specifications. Basic computer literacy to work with computer-based work orders and cutting instructions. Why Work Here? Work hours follow a standard production schedule with overtime required as needed to meet demand. Appropriate work attire typically includes durable clothing and safety gear suitable for an industrial shop floor, such as safety shoes and eye protection. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Irwindale, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
