Position Overview This is a skilled position involving the safe and efficient operation of a motor grader and some other various types of construction equipment including but not limited to Roller, Excavator, Loader, Water tuck, etc. This position will require frequent Travel to other areas. Wage ranges from $24 to $26 per hour, based on experience. Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions) Operate blade/motor grader safely and efficiently, including, regulating height and angle of grader blade, scarifies and loosening packed soil to permit grading and titling front wheels of grader when making sharp turns. Perform daily equipment, walk around and site inspections to identify and correct an unsafe condition. Responsible for safe slopes on excavations and proper barricading. Safely and properly perform maintenance (lubricating, fueling, and cleaning) on blade/motor grader. Perform minor servicing and maintenance (lubricating, fueling, and cleaning) on blade/motor grader or refer major problems to the supervisor. Keep time and material records. Knowledge of weight requirements of loads leaving the pit. Travel from interstate highway to rural dirt roads from various locations. May assist laborer at various job sites as needed. May perform physical tasks involved with road construction and laying asphalt, etc. Other duties assigned. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience High School diploma or general education degree (GED), preferred. 1-2 years of experience in aggregate, asphalt, or construction industry. Topcon machine control preferred Work Requirements Must be 18 years of age or older. Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook. Willingness to work independently within a team environment and assist the team with other duties as required. Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary. Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/orMSHA. PPE
may be required, but not limited to, for this position: Face Shield, Safety (hard toe) Shoes, and Coveralls. Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required up to 75% of the time. Knowledge/Skill Requirements Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to work collaboratively with a team in a fast-paced and complex environment. To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to work in constant exposure to the outside elements, in all weather conditions. Ability to work in a safety sensitive construction setting, including exposure to moving machinery and heavy equipment. Ability to write simple correspondence.
