The Jig Grinder will work from blueprint specifications, customer requirements, and manufacturing instructions to perform precision jig grinding, jig boring, and related grinding operations on complex aerospace components. The Jig Grinder is responsible for selecting the appropriate tooling, fixtures, grinding wheels, and inspection methods to produce flight-critical parts that meet exact dimensional and surface finish requirements with a quality-first mindset. Essential Functions:

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to the following: Set up and operate manual and CNC Jig Grinders, Jig Bores, and other precision grinding equipment with minimal supervision. Perform precision jig grinding operations to exact dimensional tolerances and surface finish requirements, frequently achieving tolerances measured in tenths (.0001"). Select, mount, and dress grinding wheels to achieve optimal performance and dimensional accuracy. Study blueprints, work orders, routers, operation sheets, and machining instructions to determine product specifications, tooling requirements, and operational sequences. Perform precision boring, grinding, polishing, radius grinding, and edge-breaking operations as required. Interpret engineering drawings and apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) requirements during setup, machining, and inspection. Verify product conformity and document inspection results in accordance with Phoenix Manufacturing quality requirements. Strictly follow all Standard Work Instructions, setup sheets, quality procedures, and manufacturing processes. Accurately report labor transactions and production activity within the GlobalShop ERP system. Perform routine preventative maintenance and daily machine care activities to maximize equipment performance and uptime. Identify machining, tooling, or quality issues and work collaboratively with Quality, Engineering, Production Control, and Manufacturing leadership to implement corrective actions. Assist with training and mentoring less experienced operators as needed. Reports of any safety violation, machining equipment misusage and/or improperly performed work to supervisor. Regular verbal or written communication to internal stakeholders utilizing both electronic and analog systems. Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment with Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Production Control. Maintains positive, team relationship with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers. Participate in the operation of and compliance with all safety, hazardous material handling, and disposal requirements in accordance with government regulations and company procedures. Maintain a clean work environment (including assigned storage and cleaning duties) in full compliance with all internal, customer and government regulations. Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (i.e., shoes, eyewear, gloves, masks, shields, and coats) if needed. Comply with all company and safety rules and regulations. Complete testing and adjustment of parts, as needed. Identify and replace parts, as necessary. Other tasks as required.

Experience, Education and Qualifications:

High School Diploma or Equivalent Education. Skilled Trade Certification, preferred. Minimum of two (2) or more years' experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment. Experience working in AS9100 and ISO environment. Experience with precision machining such as Okuma, Kellenberger, Overbeck and/ or Studer grinders. Experience using lean manufacturing principles and problem-solving methodology. Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) a plus. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Excel) or related software Excellent organizational skills (verbal and written) with an attention to detail and sense of urgency. Understanding and ability to work within an ERP system (Global Shop). Ability to adapt, prioritize, multi-task, and remain flexible to changes; responds with a sense of urgency. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, internally and externally. Ability to read and follow set-up sheets, operation sheets, blueprints, and/or drawings. Ability to meet production deadlines by following manufacturing schedules and procedures. Familiarity with the use of a variety of machinist's hand fools and precision measuring instruments.
