This position is responsible for grinding and finishing metal castings using large, powerful hand grinders and other finishing tools. The position is physically demanding and requires standing for extended periods, handling heavy castings, and working while wearing required protective equipment. Previous foundry experience is preferred but not required. Training will be provided. Responsibilities Grind and finish metal castings using large pneumatic and electric hand grinders. Remove gates, risers, flash, parting lines, and excess metal from castings. Blend and smooth casting surfaces as directed. Use cutoff wheels, die grinders, and other hand tools as needed. Safely position and maneuver castings during grinding and finishing. Follow instructions from supervisors regarding grinding and finishing requirements. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Properly operate, clean, and care for grinding equipment and tools. Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements. Maintain consistent productivity and workmanship throughout the workday. Skills & Qualifications Previous experience with grinding, power tools, manufacturing, construction, or foundry work is preferred but not required. Ability to safely operate large and powerful hand grinders after training. Strong work ethic and reliable attendance. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Comfortable performing repetitive physical work. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Willingness to learn and work in a physically demanding industrial environment. Physical Requirements This position involves heavy physical labor throughout the workday . Must be able to lift and maneuver castings weighing more than 50 lbs. Must be able to stand for extended periods throughout the shift. Frequent use of large and powerful hand grinders. Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, and positioning of castings. Repetitive hand and arm movements while grinding. Ability to work in a hot, dusty, and noisy industrial environment. Must wear required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, protective clothing, and respiratory protection when required. What You'll Do You will take freshly produced castings and grind and finish them to prepare them for the next stage of production or shipment . This is a hands-on position requiring physical strength, endurance, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.
