Job Description
Venture Steel, a leading flat-rolled metal processor and distributor focused upon providing industry-best service in Canada, the United States, and Mexico is looking to add an experienced Slitter Helper to our team. An intense service culture, combined with modern processing equipment and our proprietary SSCM software platform, enable us to provide not only industry-best service but also visibility on order status for every customer, every time. Venture Steel requires passing results of a criminal background check, physical, and 5 panel drug test as a condition of employment. Job Responsibilities and Duties Accurately process material using instructions and customer specifications Ensure gauge and size is correct and recording the data Proper slitting of material Advise supervisor if material is outside of spec Be aware of any issues with machinery and bring the attention of the supervisor if there are any issues Ensuring that any material on the recoiler is removed as safely and efficiently as possible Report any and all quality concerns promptly Perform all tasks in a safe manner, using good judgement Properly tag customer size on cuts to be packaged Follow all safety procedures while operating slitter and other equipment. Assist where needed when not running or setting up slitter Maintain proper housekeeping in work area Other duties as assigned Required Experience and Skills/Abilities Previous slitter experience required Must be able to lift 50 pounds Must be able to walk long distances Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time Good verbal and written communication skills to understand instructions, applicable safety regulations, and to maintain records
