Full-Time Job Summary The Tool Room Machine Operator is responsible for the layout, fabrication, assembly, maintenance, and repair of precision tools, dies, gauges, fixtures, and related tooling used in the manufacturing process. This role requires strong machining skills, the ability to interpret detailed blueprints, and a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Design, build, modify, repair, and maintain tools, dies, fixtures, and gauges to precise specifications Interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD models, and technical documentation Operate a variety of machine tools including CNC and manual mills, lathes, grinders, EDM, and drill presses Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other inspection tools Troubleshoot tooling and process issues to minimize downtime and improve production efficiency Collaborate with engineers, production teams, and quality personnel to support manufacturing operations Maintain tooling documentation, revisions, and preventive maintenance records Follow all safety, quality, and housekeeping standards in the tool room and production areas Assist with continuous improvement initiatives related to tooling, cost reduction, and efficiency Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED required Completion of a Tool & Die apprenticeship or equivalent technical training 3-5 years of hands-on experience as a Tool & Die Maker or related precision machining role Strong knowledge of metals, tooling materials, heat treatment, and machining processes Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T Proficiency in manual machining; CNC experience preferred Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude Preferred Qualifications Associate degree or technical certification in Tool & Die, Machining, or Manufacturing Technology Experience with CAD/CAM software Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices Experience supporting stamping, molding, or high-volume production environments Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds Manual dexterity to work with precision tools and machinery Visual acuity sufficient to read detailed drawings and measure small tolerances Work Environment Manufacturing and toolroom environment Exposure to moving machinery, metal shavings, noise, and lubricants Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly wage or salary based on experience Overtime opportunities (as applicable) Health, dental, and vision insurance Retirement plan with company match Paid time off and holidays Training opportunities
