Shear Operator

Summary:

The Shear Operator cuts sheets of metal while maintaining a safe, organized and tidy environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform metal shear operations to support the production floor Use a tape measure to ensure accuracy of cut material Ensure machines are working at full capacity, maintain stock levels of needed materials Assists in other areas of the production floor as necessary Follows all safety guidelines

Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes, metal shards and airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration, all with proper safety measures in place. This position requires the ability to perform highly repetitive tasks The noise level in the environment can be very loud.

Physical Abilities:

Visual acuity to read directions and prints and to inspect sheared parts closely to ensure that they meet specifications. Ability to stand up to 100% of the time, frequent walking, using hand to fingers, reaching with hands and arms. This position requires frequent lifting, pushing and pulling objects that are 20 lbs or heavier, up to 100 lbs.

Skills and Knowledge:

Communication skills sufficient to effectively communicate with co-workers and supervisors. Possess the ability to follow directions and identify potential problems. Must be a team player as well as having the ability to work independently. Must be flexible and have the ability to deal with stress in fast paced environment.

Ability to read a tape measure Able to do math equations Able to read and understand prints and blueprints Able to use a sheet metal thickness gauge

$18.00 - $23.00 per hour
