Monday-Thursday 6:00am-6:00pm | Monday-Thursday 6:00pm-6:00am Position Overview Our client, a precision manufacturing company, is seeking a Grinding Operator to set up and operate centerless grinding equipment to produce high-quality metal components. This role is critical to maintaining tight tolerances, consistent quality, and efficient production flow in a fast-paced machining environment. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate centerless grinding machines to grind outside diameters of metal parts to specification Monitor machine performance and make real-time adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency Inspect parts using precision measuring tools (micrometers, gauges, etc.) to ensure conformance Identify and remove defective parts; segregate non-conforming material Select, mount, and dress grinding wheels based on material and job requirements Perform routine maintenance including cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs Replace worn or damaged components using hand tools Calculate and adjust machine settings (feeds, speeds, angles, dimensions) to achieve required tolerances Accurately document production and quality data as required Follow all safety procedures and stop operations when unsafe conditions arise Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED Experience operating centerless grinding machines (setup experience strongly preferred) Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications Strong understanding of precision measurement tools and machining math Mechanical aptitude with ability to troubleshoot basic machine issues Ability to work in a fast-paced, production-driven environment Preferred Skills Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Ability to work independently and as part of a team Effective communication skills across departments High level of reliability, focus, and work ethic Experience with tight-tolerance machining environments Core Competencies Hand-eye coordination and fine motor control Mechanical reasoning and problem recognition Precision and accuracy in repetitive tasks Ability to quickly identify defects or process deviations Pattern recognition and measurement comparison Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks Frequent use of hands for handling tools and parts Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach as needed Must be able to lift up to 50-70 lbs occasionally Vision requirements include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision Work Environment Primarily on the manufacturing floor with exposure to machinery, noise, and moving equipment Required use of PPE , including safety glasses and hearing protection Steel-toed boots recommended May involve limited time in an office or reporting environment #TUG1
