Job Description:
Purpose:
Perform duties to operate the motor grader in a safe and efficient manner to move earth or stone to a very precise grade.
Job Duties:
Check all fluid levels at the beginning of engine startup for the day monitor gauges and fluid levels throughout the day during operation. Monitor the operation of the motor grader throughout the workday, maintain an awareness of unusual noise or operation and bring any exceptions to the attention of the supervisor. Perform light mechanical adjustments and/ or assist mechanic in performing repairs on assigned equipment, assist with the lubrication and fueling of the motor grader. The ability to perform a variety of tasks which may include shaping and fine grading subgrades, base materials shoulder, slopes and cutting ditches, make grade cuts by reading grade stakes or working from blue tops or string lines or according to directions. The ability to make cuts in the area of known utilities without causing damage to the underground utility. The ability to operate the motor grader in a manner to assure the safety of personnel around the equipment. The ability to operate the motor grader on terrain and slopes in a manner to prevent damage to the equipment or injury to the operator. The ability to operate the motor grader around structures. Tools and equipment so not damage the structures, tools or equipment, closely monitor the position of the blade so as to not damage surrounding structure or grader tires. Keep motor grader in a clean and orderly condition. Follow all safety rules and company policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge:
Use of reading, writing, adding and subtracting of whole number; following instructions; use of fixed gauges, reading instruments and similar devices where interpretation is required.
Experience:
