50 / per hour Full time Apply Now Back Job Description # Willett Line Setup Operator ## Position Summary The Willett Line Setup Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining the tooling, Hysons, and transfer systems used on the Willett production line. This position ensures equipment operates safely and efficiently while maintaining accurate production logs, downtime records, SPC charts, and tooling inventory. The operator works closely with Production, Shipping and Receiving, Maintenance, Tool and Die, Quality Control, and Engineering personnel. ## Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Transfer Press Operation
• 30%•Operate transfer presses according to established procedures.

• Follow all required machine startup and shutdown procedures.
• Ensure press rams are positioned correctly for a safe and proper restart following a shutdown.
• Monitor equipment performance throughout the production run.
• Tooling Setup and Maintenance
• 15%•Set up and maintain all tooling used on the Willett line.

• Position and maintain air probes properly.
• Inspect safety guards, switches, and controls to ensure they are functioning correctly.
• Die and Equipment Maintenance
• 10%•Install and set dies in the press.

• Inspect and replace Hysons as needed.
• Rebuild transfer slides and complete other authorized tooling repairs.
• Housekeeping
• 10%•Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the Willett line and surrounding work areas.

• Keep aisles and production areas clear of safety hazards.
• Production Records
• 10%•Maintain accurate operating logs and production records.

• Document machine downtime and the reason for each occurrence.
• Complete required Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts and worksheets.
• Equipment Inspection
• 5%•Visually inspect all operating stations to verify that equipment is functioning properly.

• Report or correct equipment concerns according to established procedures.
• Tooling Troubleshooting
• 5%•Work with the department lead and Production Engineer to troubleshoot tooling problems.

• Correct, adjust, or replace tooling as needed during production runs.
• Electrical and Controls Troubleshooting
• 5%•Assist the Plant Electrician with diagnosing and troubleshooting programmable controller issues.

• Safety Inspections
• 5%•Regularly inspect safety guards, switches, and related equipment for proper operation.

• Immediately report unsafe equipment or working conditions.
• Maintenance Evaluation
• 5%•Use sound judgment to determine when tooling or maintenance work orders should be submitted.

## Additional Responsibilities

• Monitor the quality and quantity of parts produced.
• Use micrometers, calipers, and other measuring instruments to verify product quality.
• Retrieve and review prints through the computer system.
• Read and interpret blueprints and production specifications.
• Complete changeovers for all knob styles accurately and within established time expectations.
• Maintain an appropriate inventory of tooling and related production supplies.
• Wear required personal protective equipment, including protective clothing and safety glasses.
• Participate in team-based department activities and continuous-improvement efforts.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. ## Education and Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least one year of experience in a related manufacturing, machine operation, press operation, or tooling position is highly preferred. ## Required Skills and Qualifications
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Experience operating or setting up industrial production equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot machine shutdowns and tooling problems.
• Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced production environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical prints.
• Ability to retrieve prints from a computer system.
• Ability to use micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments.
• Ability to perform equipment and product changeovers efficiently.
• Ability to maintain accurate production, downtime, and quality records.
