JOB SUMMARY

• Grinding, Polishing, and Buffing Machine Tool Setters, Operators, and Tenders

Metal and Plastic:

Set up, operate, or tend grinding and related tools that remove excess material or burrs from surfaces, sharpen edges or corners, or buff, hone, or polish metal or plastic work pieces.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Deburring & Finishing:

Meticulously inspects and removes burrs, sharp edges, and other surface imperfections from metal, plastic and other materials using a variety of hand and power tools (e.g. files, sanders, grinders).

Quality Control:

Performs visual and quality inspections using precision measuring tools such as profilometers to verify that parts meet blueprint specifications.

Blueprint Interpretation:

Reads and understands complex engineering drawings, blueprints and work instructions to identify deburring requirements, tolerances and surface finish specifications.

Tool Maintenance:

Cleans and maintains tools and equipment, ensuring they are in proper working order.

Documentation:

Records inspection data and process improvements and reports any non-conforming parts to a supervisor or quality department.
