Lyn-Tron is a screw machine shop that supplies precision fasteners and machined components to OEM customers across the country and internationally. Our production floor includes Davenport Automatic Screw Machines, Hydromat Rotary Transfer Machines, and Star CNC Swiss Screw Machines. This position supports production by making, modifying, and maintaining tooling used throughout the shop. The right person for this job is careful, patient, mechanically minded, and comfortable working through problems until the tool is right. Good work in this role takes time, attention to detail, and a steady hand. The main focus of the position will be using a Wire EDM machine to cut tooling for production departments. This includes creating drawings, building programs using CAD/CAM software, setting up the EDM machine, cutting tools, checking work, and making adjustments as needed. Responsibilities Program, set up, and operate a Wire EDM machine to produce tooling for production departments Create or work from drawings using CAD/CAM software Read and understand prints, drawings, and tooling requirements Set up EDM jobs using Fanuc controls Cut, inspect, and verify tooling using precision measuring equipment Work with production leads and machinists to understand tooling needs Modify, repair, and improve tooling as needed Support trial-and-error problem solving when a tool needs adjustment Keep work organized and maintain a safe, clean tool room environment Assist in other areas of the shop when business needs require it Required Skills and Experience Experience operating a Wire EDM machine Ability to set up EDM jobs and make machine adjustments Experience using CAD/CAM software to create drawings and programs Ability to read prints and understand tolerances Proficiency with precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, and related inspection tools Strong attention to detail and ability to work carefully around machines and tooling Willingness to take the time needed to do accurate work Ability to work independently while communicating well with production and shop leadership Helpful Additional Skills The following skills are not required, but would be valuable in this role: Manual machining experience Basic milling and turning Surface grinding Tool sharpening and tool modification Grinding, fitting, and finishing tool steel Milling slots in collets Building bushings and guides for Davenport machines Understanding of heat treating tool steel Experience working in a screw machine shop or tool room environment What We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who takes pride in accurate work.
