Asbestos LeadPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Asbestos Lead to oversee asbestos abatement projects, ensure regulatory compliance, and lead field teams in safe removal and management of asbestos-containing materials. The Asbestos Lead will be responsible for planning and executing abatement activities, conducting site assessments, maintaining documentation, and coordinating with clients and regulatory agencies to achieve safe, timely project completion. Candidates with experience in CSST, asbestos procedures, and HAZMAT protocols are highly desired.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead and supervise asbestos abatement crews during removal, encapsulation, and containment activities to ensure safety and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Develop, review, and implement project-specific work plans, risk assessments, and safety protocols, including decontamination procedures and air monitoring strategies.
Conduct pre-work site assessments and inspections to identify asbestos-containing materials, evaluate hazards, and determine appropriate abatement methods.
Perform or oversee air sampling, clearance testing, and documentation of results to confirm abatement effectiveness and regulatory compliance.
Coordinate with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities to obtain permits, schedule inspections, and provide progress updates.
Train, mentor, and evaluate crew members on proper abatement techniques, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), decontamination procedures, and emergency response protocols.
Maintain accurate project documentation including manifests, chain-of-custody records, daily logs, and regulatory reporting.
Ensure proper handling, packaging, labeling, transport, and disposal of asbestos-containing waste in accordance with applicable HAZMAT and waste management regulations.
Manage site safety programs, conduct toolbox talks, and enforce adherence to respiratory protection programs and other safety requirements.
Troubleshoot field issues, adapt work plans as conditions change, and ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
QualificationsValid Asbestos Supervisor/Contractor license or equivalent certification as required by state or local authorities.
Minimum of 3+ years of hands-on asbestos abatement experience with progressive supervisory responsibility.
Strong knowledge of asbestos abatement methods, containment construction, negative air systems, and clearance criteria.
Familiarity with HAZMAT protocols, hazardous materials handling, transportation regulations, and waste disposal procedures.
Experience with air monitoring equipment, clearance sampling, and interpretation of laboratory results.
Experience or working knowledge of CSST (corrugated stainless steel tubing) issues related to building systems, repairs, or safety considerations preferred.
Current OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety certification or equivalent and Asbestos Worker/Hazmat-related safety training.
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to train crews, enforce safety policies, and maintain site discipline.
Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to prepare reports, work plans, and regulatory submissions.
Valid drivers license and the ability to travel to project sites; physical ability to perform field work in PPE and confined spaces as required.
