Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Hazmat Supervisor to lead our hazardous materials response team in Newport News, VA. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in environmental remediation, safety protocols, and restoration industries. This role demands a proactive leader capable of managing emergency responses, overseeing cleanup operations, and ensuring strict adherence to safety standards while delivering exceptional customer service. Duties Coordinate and supervise hazardous materials response operations, including chemical spills, asbestos abatement, mold remediation, and water damage restoration. Ensure all team members utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly and follow respiratory protection protocols during operations. Oversee the proper use of hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment such as Xactimate for estimating damages. Conduct safety training sessions and enforce compliance with safety protocols to maintain a safe work environment. Manage on-call coverage schedules to ensure immediate response availability for emergency situations. Perform site assessments and develop remediation plans aligned with industry standards and client requirements. Operate company vehicles responsibly while adhering to traffic safety regulations during transportation of personnel and equipment. Skills Extensive knowledge of emergency response readiness, water damage restoration, flood restoration, fire restoration, and mold remediation techniques. Proven experience in the restoration industry with familiarity in asbestos abatement and hazardous material handling. Strong leadership abilities with excellent communication skills for coordinating teams and interacting with clients. Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, carpet cleaning equipment, and other specialized restoration tools effectively. Knowledge of safety protocol adherence including PPE use and respiratory protection measures. Construction experience is advantageous for overseeing structural repairs related to restoration projects. Proficiency in Xactimate estimating software coupled with customer service skills to ensure client satisfaction.
