POSITION SUMMARY
Operate furnaces, refrigerators, and other associated equipment to perform heat treatment processing required in the production of various metallic parts and assemblies.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES/DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Use and or/interpret processing information from worksheets, shop travelers specifications, and other written or verbal instructions in accomplishing work assignments. Write up heat treat processing worksheets from information contained in shippers, travelers, specifications, drawings, or verbal instructions. Understand and utilize the controls and instruments on the heat treating equipment to process materials properly. Verify, record, and/or sign off processing data on charts, logs, and other documentation as required. Utilize hand tools, power driven drills, etc., forklift, truck and overhead cranes. Inventory, inspect, clean, stack heat treated material and prepare for shipping. Perform furnace probe checks and survey runs. Perform routine maintenance work on all equipment. Recognize diagnose, take any necessary in-process actions and report equipment malfunctions to supervision. Possess basic computer skills (MS Office word/excel). Completes Operator Acceptance Program (OAP) certification, as required.

Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force Prolonged periods of standing Requires repetitive use of hands May require sitting, walking, bending over, crawling, climbing reaching over, crouching kneeling, balancing, grasping and pushing or pulling May be exposed to dust, gas, fumes or strong aromas. Requires frequent exposure to manufacturing equipment and machinery. May be exposed to marked changes in temperature or humidity.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires 2-3 year minimum experience with machine or heat treat operator or equivalent experience. Must possess an aptitude to learn setup and operation of vacuum furnace, including, shop math, and the proper use of all applicable inspection tools. Must have own tools. Must be able to read and understand written planning and follow verbal instructions. High school degree or equivalent desirable. SAFETY
