Job Description
Job Summary WJMG is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Heat Treat Technician to join our team. In this vital role, you will oversee the heat treatment processes that enhance the properties of metal components, ensuring they meet strict quality standards. Your expertise will help optimize production efficiency, maintain safety protocols, and deliver precision results that support our commitment to excellence. Duties Operate and monitor heat treatment equipment, including furnaces, quench tanks, and tempering ovens, ensuring proper temperature profiles and cycle times are maintained. Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and production documents to set up and adjust heat treatment processes accurately. Conduct dimensional measurements using precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify component specifications post-treatment. Troubleshoot industrial equipment issues promptly to minimize downtime and maintain continuous production flow. Maintain detailed records of heat treatment cycles, process parameters, and quality inspections for compliance and traceability purposes. Follow safety standards rigorously by adhering to proper handling procedures for high-temperature equipment and hazardous materials. Collaborate with clients to optimize process parameters using CNC programming, CAM programming, or other automation tools as needed. Qualifications Proven experience operating industrial furnaces, heat treating equipment, or related machinery. Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings accurately. Familiarity with CNC machining, CNC programming, CAM programming, CAD software such as SolidWorks, and shop math principles. Ability to read and interpret production documents and technical specifications confidently. Skilled in using precision measurement tools including micrometers, calipers, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and other precision measuring instruments. Knowledge of safety standards in production environments related to high-temperature operations and industrial equipment troubleshooting. Experience with forklift operation, materials handling, tooling setup, welding, stamping presses, press brake machines, CNC milling machines or CNC lathes is a plus. Excellent problem-solving skills combined with a proactive approach to maintenance and quality control tasks.
