Job Description

Description:
The Heat Treatment Lab Technician is responsible for performing metallurgical testing, inspection, and evaluation of heat-treated fasteners and components. This role ensures compliance with customer requirements, industry standards, and internal quality specifications through accurate testing, documentation, and reporting.
Requirements:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES PREPARE, MOUNT, POLISH, AND ETCH METALLURGICAL SAMPLES FOR MICROSTRUCTURE EVALUATION. PERFORM HARDNESS TESTING
(ROCKWELL, VICKERS, MICROHARDNESS)
ON IN-PROCESS AND FINISHED COMPONENTS. CORE & SURFACE HARDNESS EVALUATIONS AS PER SPECIFICATIONS. OPERATE AND MAINTAIN LABORATORY TESTING EQUIPMENT SUCH AS MICROSCOPES, HARDNESS TESTERS, AND METALLOGRAPHIC PREPARATION TOOLS. PERFORM MICROSTRUCTURE ANALYSIS AND DOCUMENT RESULTS IN ACCORDANCE WITH ASTM, SAE, AND CUSTOMER STANDARDS. ASSIST IN PROCESS CAPABILITY STUDIES AND HEAT TREATMENT VALIDATION TESTING. SUPPORT FAILURE ANALYSIS INVESTIGATIONS BY PREPARING METALLURGICAL SAMPLES AND PROVIDING TEST DATA. MAINTAIN ACCURATE RECORDS OF LABORATORY RESULTS, CALIBRATION LOGS, AND INSPECTION REPORTS. ENSURE LABORATORY EQUIPMENT IS PROPERLY CALIBRATED AND MAINTAINED. COMPLY WITH SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROCEDURES DURING TESTING AND LAB OPERATIONS. SUPPORT INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL AUDITS RELATED TO HEAT TREATMENT AND METALLURGICAL TESTING. CERTIFICATION AND EDUCATION HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR ASSOCIATE DEGREE IN METALLURGY EXPERIENCE 1-3
years of experience working in metallurgy or heat treat environment Has demonstrated strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to effectively multi-task including addressing changing priorities.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
Language Ability to read, analyze, technical journals and prints Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and standards (ASTM, ISO, SAE).
