Job Description

Position Summary The Heat Treater is responsible for operating and monitoring heat treat equipment used to alter the physical and mechanical properties of metal parts and materials. This role ensures products meet required hardness, strength, durability, and quality specifications while maintaining safety and production standards.
ShiftPay Differential Pay Range:
$20.00 to $25.00 commensurate with experience. 1st or 2nd shift position. A 15% shift differential applies to all eligible hours worked on 2nd shift. Benefits Medical, Dental,Vision Life Insurance Paid Time Off 401k match Paid Holidays Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operate heat-treating furnaces, ovens, quench tanks, and related equipment. Load and unload metal parts using appropriate material handling equipment. Monitor and adjust temperature, time cycles, and cooling processes according to specifications. Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, process sheets, and production schedules. Inspect finished parts for hardness, distortion, and surface quality using measuring and testing equipment. Maintain accurate production quality records. Perform routine equipment inspections and basic preventive maintenance. Follow all safety procedures related to high-temperature operations, chemicals, and personal protective equipment (PPE). Communicate with supervisor regarding process issues or nonconforming materials. Education and Experience High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous manufacturing, metallurgy, or heat treat experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Basic understanding of heat treatment processes and metal properties. Ability to read measuring devices and production documentation. Strong attention to detail and quality standards. Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Basic math and computer skills. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift. Ability to lift up to 80 pounds occasionally. Ability to work in hot environments and around industrial equipment. Work Environment Manufacturing facility environment. Exposure to heat, noise, oils, and moving mechanical equipment.
