This is a critical bench role focused on high-quality jewelry repair, advanced stone setting, custom fabrication, and precision craftsmanship. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, understands the importance of quality and efficiency, and is confident working in a high-volume fine jewelry environment. The right candidate will have strong technical bench skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage a steady repair and custom workflow while maintaining Vardy's standards of craftsmanship and service. At Vardy's, our clients trust us with some of their most meaningful pieces, including engagement rings, wedding bands, heirlooms, custom designs, and fine jewelry repairs. We are looking for someone who understands the responsibility that comes with that trust and who brings professionalism, consistency, and care to every piece. What You'll Do Perform Fine Jewelry Repair and Bench Work Perform daily jewelry repairs, including ring sizing, prong rebuilding, re-tipping, soldering, clasp repair, and general restoration work. Execute advanced stone setting, including prong, bezel, flush, and pavé setting. Work confidently with large stones and high-value pieces. Conduct complex fabrication and multi-metal work for custom designs and special projects. Use a laser welder and bench microscope for precision repairs and stone setting. Manage a steady workflow of approximately 10 to 15 repairs per day while maintaining quality and accuracy. Deliver Quality, Precision, and Consistency Produce consistent, high-quality work that meets Vardy's standards. Balance efficiency with precision in a high-volume repair and custom jewelry environment. Inspect work carefully to ensure stone security, structural integrity, and clean finishing. Identify potential repair concerns and communicate clearly with the team when additional review is needed. Maintain an organized bench and follow proper care, safety, and handling procedures for client-owned pieces. Support Custom Design and Fabrication Assist with custom jewelry projects, fabrication, modifications, and restoration work. Collaborate with the sales team and management to support client requests and custom design expectations. Provide technical insight when needed to help determine feasibility, repair approach, or fabrication options. Support CAD/CAM-related work when applicable, though CAD/CAM experience is not required. Collaborate with the Workshop and Showroom Team Work closely with other goldsmiths, sales associates, and management to ensure smooth workflow and client satisfaction. Communicate clearly regarding repair timelines, technical issues, and project status. Contribute to a respectful, professional, and team-oriented workshop environment. Share knowledge and learn from experienced bench professionals within the team. Who We're Looking For The ideal candidate is: Highly skilled in fine jewelry repair, stone setting, fabrication, and finishing. Detail-oriented and committed to quality craftsmanship. Efficient and able to manage a steady repair workflow. Comfortable working with high-value jewelry and client-owned pieces. Reliable, professional, and accountable. Trustworthy and careful with sensitive or valuable work. Collaborative and respectful in a team environment. Able to troubleshoot repair challenges and think through technical solutions. Interested in joining a respected fine jewelry business with high standards and a strong workshop team.
Experience Ideal experience includes:
8+ years of professional bench experience in fine jewelry repair and fabrication. Advanced proficiency in stone setting, soldering, fabrication, finishing, and repair techniques. Experience with prong, bezel, flush, and pavé setting. Confidence working with large stones and fine jewelry pieces. Skilled in laser welding and microscope-assisted work. Ability to manage workload and prioritize time-sensitive projects. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Professionalism, reliability, and integrity in all aspects of work. Preferred, but not required: CAD/CAM knowledge for custom design support. Formal jeweler training or certification, such as GIA, New Approach School, or similar professional training. Schedule This is a full-time, in-person position.
Typical schedule:
Tuesday through Saturday 40 hours per week Extended hours may be required during holidays and peak seasons Compensation and Benefits Vardy's Jewelers offers a competitive compensation package, including: Hourly compensation ranging from $33.00 to $45.00 per hour , based on experience. 100% employer-paid health insurance.
