Job Description
Bench Jeweler / Goldsmith (Repairs + Custom Studio) We're a busy repair shop and custom jewelry studio. This role is for a bench jeweler who loves solving real-world problems, making worn pieces wearable again, and building beautiful new work when the project calls for it. You'll handle everything from everyday repairs to detailed restorations and custom builds—working in gold, platinum, and silver, with diamonds and colored stones. You'll be trusted with client-owned jewelry, expected to work clean and accurate, and communicate clearly when something needs attention, approval, or more time.
What You'll Do:
Repairs & Restorations (the core of the job) Perform common and complex repairs: ring sizing, chain and clasp repair, soldering, laser welding, prong and setting work, rebuilds, refinishing, and troubleshooting "mystery problems." Restore and strengthen pieces that have wear, weak joints, missing parts, or structural issues. Read job notes carefully, confirm measurements, and ask questions when something doesn't look right. Inspect pieces beyond the stated request (loose stones, thin shanks, worn prongs, damaged settings) and flag what you find so clients can make informed decisions. Custom Work & Fabrication (the fun part) Support custom projects and small production runs: fabrication, assembly, clean-up, pre-finish, polish, and final finish. Work from sketches, CAD outputs, existing samples, or repair-driven redesigns. Execute clean construction in gold and platinum, with thoughtful stone protection and crisp finishing. Stone Handling & Bench Standards Handle diamonds and gemstones carefully at every step—secure, protected, and accounted for. Set and tighten stones based on your skill level (and grow into more complex setting over time).
Deliver consistent quality:
solid joins, clean seams, smooth finishes, secure settings, and a final result you'd feel good handing back to a client. Workflow, Organization & Communication Keep your bench organized and your jobs clearly staged so nothing gets lost or delayed. Track due dates and speak up early if a job is at risk (parts needed, damage discovered, complexity higher than expected). Work with the front-of-house team so expectations match what's happening at the bench. Put away metals, stones, and work orders securely at the end of the day.
What We're Looking For:
Must-Haves 2+ years bench experience in repairs/alterations (custom experience is a plus) Confident soldering skills Diamond setting experience (tightening, prongs, basic setting work) Comfortable working in platinum and gold Strong attention to detail and pride in clean work Reliable, steady, and able to work independently without constant oversight Clear communication and a team-first attitude Nice to Have 5+ years bench experience Laser welding experience Strong fabrication/assembly skills and comfort building from scratch Casting experience Experience with colored stones and a variety of setting styles Jewelry school or formal training Gemology coursework or strong practical gemstone handling knowledge
Work Style & Culture Fit:
This is a hands-on shop. We move fast, we care about quality, and we take responsibility for client pieces. If you're the kind of jeweler who stays calm, keeps your bench in order, and wants to keep leveling up your craft, you'll fit right in.
