Job Description

Role:
Airway Design and Email Planner Location:
Onsite, Chanhassen, MN Type:
Full time
Compensation:
$25-35/hour DOE About CascadEffects CascadEffects provides Fractional COO services, Virtual Assistant services, and Industry Recruitment for healthcare companies ready to scale with clarity, accountability, and aligned leadership. We're hiring an Airway Design & Email Planner on behalf of our partner, a fast-growing, high-performance dental laboratory serving leading dental and orthodontic practices across the U.S. Position Summary Our client is a dental laboratory that designs and manufactures TAD supported orthodontic appliances, including MARPE (miniscrew assisted rapid palatal expansion) and other airway focused cases. The Airway Design & Email Planner is responsible for turning a doctor's case request into a complete, manufacturable airway appliance design, from initial CBCT and scan review through TAD (miniscrew) planning, appliance and band design, and final doctor approval. Working full time onsite and against a live case queue, this role consults directly with doctors by email on MARPE (miniscrew assisted rapid palatal expansion) cases and other TAD supported airway appliances, combining precise CAD based measurement with real clinical judgment on every case. The Airway Design & Email Planner plays a key role in representing the dental lab's clinical and technical standards, providing accurate, well documented case work and clear doctor communication that reinforces the Company's commitment to Quality, Innovation, Consistency, Dependability, and Communication. Essential Responsibilities Case Intake and Documentation Pull each doctor's case notes from the lab's case management system and translate them into a complete, correctly labeled design specification. Check case history for standing doctor preferences, such as band or arm style, not restated in the new order. Flag any requested appliance parts or TAD types outside what the lab supplies in house. Scan Setup and Alignment Set up each case in 3Shape and import the patient's CBCT and intraoral scans. Crop oversized CBCT files and align the scans to the patient's midline before planning begins. Confirm clean scan alignment, redoing the midline or alignment steps if the result is not accurate. TAD Planning and Measurement Digitally place and angle each TAD (miniscrew), keeping safe distances from tooth roots, nerves, and tissue. Measure each TAD's length and bicortical status, adjusting size and position as needed. Confirm symmetrical, well anchored placement across the full set of TADs in each case. TAD Guide Development Generate each case's TAD guide once planning is finalized. Add the supporting CBCT screenshots, angle drawings, and layout pages the doctor will use to place each TAD. Appliance and Band Design Draw the expansion screw, bands, and attachments to the doctor's exact order. Present screw angle options when the doctor's order does not specify a preference. Doctor Communication and Case Closeout Send each case out for doctor approval using the standing approval email process. Consult directly with doctors on case questions, options, and requested revisions. Update the case management system and billing records at every stage of the case. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong 3D spatial reasoning and precise, engineering style measurement skills. Working knowledge of CAD software, or strong aptitude for learning a purpose built dental planning platform to a professional standard. Ability to read and interpret unstructured clinical case notes and translate them into a complete, accurate design specification. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to consult directly with doctors on case questions and revisions. High attention to detail and comfort with millimeter level precision work. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a queue of concurrent cases while maintaining accuracy. Ability to collaborate effectively with production, 3D design, and clinical teams. Proficiency with company case management systems and standard office software. Knowledge of airway focused orthodontic appliances (MARPE, TAD assisted expansion) or the orthodontic or dental laboratory industry preferred. Education and Experience Background in CAD design, engineering, 3D modeling, or a related technical field required. Experience in the dental, orthodontic, or dental laboratory industry preferred, though not required. Familiarity with CBCT or intraoral scan data is a plus.
