In this role, you will be responsible for preparing, setting up, and operating CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines such as CNC milling machines and CNC lathes to produce precision components. Your expertise in CNC programming, blueprint reading, and mechanical knowledge will ensure that production runs smoothly, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced manufacturing equipment and contribute to innovative projects in a fast-paced environment. Duties Interpret detailed blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to determine setup requirements. Program CNC machines using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software and manual programming techniques to ensure accurate machining processes. Set up CNC equipment, including loading tooling, calibrating machines, and installing fixtures for precise machining operations. Operate CNC milling machines and CNC lathes with proficiency, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to quality standards. Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to verify dimensions during setup and production. Perform routine maintenance on CNC machinery and troubleshoot issues related to electrical discharge machining (EDM), tooling, or machine calibration. Follow lean manufacturing principles to optimize setup times, reduce waste, and improve overall efficiency. Assist with assembly tasks and welding when required, utilizing hand tools and power tools safely and effectively. Maintain detailed records of setups, inspections, and machine performance logs for quality assurance purposes. Requirements Proven experience as a Setup Machinist with strong knowledge of CNC programming languages such as Fanuc or similar controls. Proficiency in reading complex blueprints and applying GD&T standards for precision manufacturing. Hands-on experience with CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software like SolidWorks or similar for part design review. Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of machining processes, tooling selection, and fixture setup. Familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM), plastics injection molding processes, and welding techniques is a plus. Ability to operate precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM). Basic math skills for calculations related to dimensions, tolerances, and machine offsets. Knowledge of lean manufacturing practices to streamline setup procedures. Valid certification or experience in forklift operation is preferred for material handling tasks. Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
