Hourly Position Summary:
BenderCCP is seeking a highly skilled CNC Machinist / Programmer for our Chula Vista facility with hands-on experience in both machining and programming precision components. This role is ideal for someone proficient in Fanuc controls and Mastercam software, and who is capable of executing complex machining operations such as line boring, flange facing, and milling. You'll work on a wide range of industrial parts for industries including paper mills, aerospace, food manufacturing, and heavy equipment repair. Your expertise will support both new part manufacturing and component restoration, requiring precision, problem-solving, and adaptability.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate CNC and manual lathes, mills, and boring machines to manufacture or restore precision components. Program CNC machines using Mastercam and edit G-code directly at the machine (primarily Fanuc controls). Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and technical instructions. Perform diverse machining operations, including: Line boring and milling Pump base manufacturing and split line machining Flange facing, keyway cutting, and facing plates Trunnions, wicket gate bores, and valve seats Journals, shafts, crankcases, and compressor components Cylinder liners, piston rods, and gearboxes Paper & steel rolls, printing press parts Machinery sole plates and steam path restoration components Aerospace and food-grade equipment parts Maintain tight dimensional tolerances and high-quality surface finishes. Conduct in-process inspection using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and dial indicators. Optimize machining strategies for accuracy and productivity. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace, adhering to quality and safety protocols. Machine Operators Operate presses, CNC machines, mills, lathes, or other production equipment. Risk of injury due to moving parts, pinch points, and high temperatures. Requires constant attention to prevent serious accidents. Move heavy or hazardous materials through production areas. Work near other workers and tight aisles; require visibility and precision. Use open flame or electrical arc processes (welding, cutting, grinding); risk of burns, sparks, or fume exposure. Must maintain awareness and PPE compliance at all times.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required; technical certificate or machining apprenticeship is a plus. Must have experience programming CNC machines with Mastercam . Must be proficient with Fanuc CNC controls , including setup, operation, and G-code editing. Solid experience in both CNC and manual machining. Strong understanding of precision machining practices for both new and repair work. Ability to work independently from blueprints, specs, or reverse-engineered parts. Familiarity with large-part handling, overhead cranes, and shop safety procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with large vertical and horizontal mills or boring mills. Proficiency in other CNC control systems (Haas, Siemens, etc.) is a plus. Background in job-shop or industrial service environments. Experience working on large or irregularly shaped components.
