Corona, CA Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Field Machinist with experience operating manual machining equipment in on-site, industrial environments. This role involves traveling to customer locations to perform precision machining, equipment repair, and component restoration on critical infrastructure such as turbines, pumps, compressors, and heavy industrial machinery. The ideal candidate is highly adaptable, safety-focused, and capable of performing complex machining operations in the field under varying conditions while maintaining tight tolerances and high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Field Machining & Equipment Repair Set up and operate portable/manual machining equipment including lathes, milling machines, and line boring equipment at customer sites Perform on-site machining operations including: Line boring and milling Turning, drilling, tapping, and threading Shaft and journal repairs Flange facing and surface machining Repair, restore, and re-machine critical components for industrial equipment Field Service Technicians Operate and maintain pumps, valves, and process control systems. Operate DOT-regulated vehicles and heavy equipment (e.g., crane trucks, trailers). Required to comply with FMCSA drug and alcohol testing if operating CDL-class vehicles. Work in confined spaces, trenches, and at heights. Participate in or supervise entry into tanks, manholes, or vaults. Must monitor gas levels, entry permits, and rescue procedures. Handle hazardous chemicals and pressurized systems. Technical & Precision Work Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and technical instructions Maintain tight dimensional tolerances and precision finishes in field conditions Perform in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other precision tools Site Work & Safety Mobilize, set up, and demobilize machining equipment at job sites Follow all company and customer safety procedures, including OSHA and site-specific requirements Work in industrial environments such as power plants, refineries, shipyards, and manufacturing facilities Customer Interaction & Reporting Communicate with customers on job scope, progress, and technical findings Complete job reports, inspection documentation, and time tracking accurately Represent the company professionally in the field Travel & Flexibility Travel frequently to customer sites, including short-notice and emergency callouts Work extended hours, weekends, and overtime as required
Requirements:
Minimum 5+ years of experience operating manual lathes, mills, and machining equipment Experience with field machining or portable machining equipment preferred Strong ability to machine and inspect tight tolerances on critical components Comfortable performing both new part manufacturing and repair/restoration work Ability to read blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings Familiarity with rigging, overhead cranes, and industrial safety practices Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively Authorized to work in the
United States Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in industrial field service, power generation, marine, or heavy equipment repair Experience with line boring, flange facing, and on-site machining applications Welding or fabrication experience is a plus OSHA certifications or safety training
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly Ability to stand, climb, kneel, and work in confined or elevated spaces Ability to work in outdoor and industrial environments under varying conditions
