Job Description

CNC MachinistPosition OverviewWe are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to set up, operate and maintain CNC milling and turning equipment to produce precision components to print. The ideal candidate will be experienced with CNC machine operation, able to read blueprints, select tooling, perform machine setup and offsets, and verify parts meet tight tolerances and surface finish requirements. This role supports production and continuous improvement efforts, working closely with engineering and quality teams to ensure on-time delivery of high-quality parts.

Key ResponsibilitiesSet up, program (as required), and operate CNC mills and lathes to produce parts to engineering drawings and specifications.

Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions to determine manufacturing processes and tolerances.

Perform machine setup including fixturing, tooling selection, tool offsets, and live tooling configuration for multi-axis machines.

Load and edit G-code programs; perform basic CNC programming and adjustments to optimize cycle time and part quality.

Inspect parts using precision measurement tools (micrometer, caliper, dial indicator) and ensure parts meet dimensional tolerances and surface finish standards.

Execute first-article inspections and routine SPC checks; document inspection results and maintain accurate setup and production records.

Troubleshoot machining issues, adjust feeds/speeds, tooling, and coolant systems, and coordinate repairs or maintenance as needed.

Deburr and finish parts to required specifications and prepare components for assembly or shipment.

Collaborate with engineers and supervisors on continuous improvement, tooling optimization, and process documentation.

Adhere to safety protocols, maintain a clean work area, and follow quality and environmental procedures.
QualificationsMust:
Proven experience as a CNC Machinist operating mills and/or lathes.

Proficiency in blueprint reading, GD&T and translating prints into machining operations (blueprint reading preferred).Experience with machine setup, tooling selection, fixture setup, tool setup and offsets, and live tooling.

Skilled in precision measurement and inspection techniques using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators and surface finish assessment.

Familiarity with CNC controls and machines such as Fanuc, Haas, Okuma, Siemens and Mazak.

Working knowledge of CNC lathe, CNC milling, 3-axis, 4-axis and 5-axis machining, Swiss-type lathes and multi-axis turning with live tooling.

Experience with G-code programming, CNC editing, and CNC setup; familiarity with CNC turning, milling and milling/lathe centers.

Exposure to CAM/CAD tools such as MasterCAM, GibbsCAM and SolidWorks (CAD/CAM knowledge preferred).Understanding of cutting tool geometry, coolant systems, tooling selection and thread milling/boring operations.

Ability to control surface finish and use SPC for process control and quality assurance.

Experience machining common materials including steel, aluminum, titanium, brass and other alloys.

Skilled in deburring, finishing and achieving tight tolerances; strong attention to detail and commitment to part quality.

Comfortable with setup and operation of mill/lathe combinations, Swiss lathes and complex fixtures.

Strong problem-solving skills, ability to read and document setup sheets, and maintain production records.
