We are looking to hire a Hot Heading Machinist in Gardena, CA (90249) . This is a Contract-to-Hire opportunity to join our FLAG Team! Position Summary Working with minimal assistance, the Hot Heading Machinist will perform forging and hot heading operations of intermediate complexity in a precision aerospace manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for machine setup, tooling installation, first article inspections, dimensional verification, troubleshooting, and operating hot heading and forge press equipment while maintaining production and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have experience with aerospace fasteners, forging operations, blueprint reading, and precision measuring equipment. Shift 2nd Shift Pay Range $22.00 - $30.00 per hour Based on experience and qualifications Primary Duties & Responsibilities Safely operate hot heading and forge press machinery while following PPE and manufacturing safety procedures Review shop travelers, work orders, blueprints, heading sketches, and process instructions prior to production Set up and operate hot heading machines, forge presses, and related manufacturing equipment Install and secure tooling, dies, molds, cutters, and machine components using hand tools and precision measuring devices Verify die heights, tooling alignment, dimensional tolerances, and product specifications during setup Perform tooling adjustments and machine setup corrections as needed to maintain quality standards Produce and inspect first article parts and complete all required production documentation Run multiple material types and forging configurations in accordance with manufacturing specifications Identify and troubleshoot forging defects including forge rolling, mismatch, dimensional variation, and material inconsistencies Examine and measure parts using micrometers, calipers, templates, scales, and inspection gauges Maintain dimensional tolerances and ensure compliance with aerospace manufacturing quality standards Follow standard operating procedures for machine startup, operation, inspection, and shutdown processes Coordinate with supervisors and lead personnel to maintain workflow, quality, and production efficiency Perform other duties as assigned Required Qualifications 1-3 years of experience operating hot heading, forge press, or forging machinery Experience in aerospace manufacturing, metal forming, or fastener production preferred Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop travelers, work orders, and manufacturing instructions Basic machine setup and tooling adjustment experience Knowledge of inspection tools and precision measuring equipment Basic understanding of forge press operations, machine tooling, and production processes Ability to identify forging defects and quality concerns Basic shop math skills including fractions and decimals Ability to read, write, and communicate in English Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality standards Preferred Qualifications Experience working with aerospace fasteners and aerospace manufacturing equipment Familiarity with forging operations and metal forming processes High School Diploma or GED preferred #ILB123
