Manufacturing Supervisor / Production Manager Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Sinker EDM Machinist to join our aerospace manufacturing team in Southington, CT. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience setting up, programming, operating, and troubleshooting CNC sinker EDM equipment to manufacture complex, close-tolerance aerospace components and tooling. This position requires strong knowledge of EDM processes, electrode setup, workholding, CNC programming, precision inspection, blueprint reading, and GD&T. Experience working with difficult-to-machine and exotic materials in a precision aerospace environment is highly preferred. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC sinker EDM machines to produce complex, precision components. Read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, process sheets, work instructions, and customer specifications. Develop, edit, and optimize EDM programs and machining parameters. Select, prepare, position, and maintain appropriate electrodes, tooling, and workholding. Perform accurate machine setups, including work offsets, electrode offsets, alignment, and part positioning. Establish and optimize amperage, pulse duration, duty cycle, flushing, and burn parameters. Machine complex cavities, pockets, slots, contours, and intricate geometries to tight tolerances. Work with aerospace materials such as titanium, Inconel, nickel-based superalloys, hardened steels, carbide, and other difficult-to-machine materials. Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using precision measuring equipment. Apply GD&T principles to verify parts meet engineering and customer requirements. Troubleshoot issues involving electrode wear, arcing, flushing, surface finish, dimensional variation, and burn conditions. Adjust programs and processes to improve accuracy, surface finish, cycle time, and productivity. Maintain accurate production, inspection, and traceability documentation. Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Programming, and Production teams to resolve technical issues. Support process development, continuous improvement, and production optimization initiatives. Maintain EDM machines, tooling, electrodes, dielectric systems, and work areas. Follow all applicable AS9100, NADCAP, FAA, ITAR, safety, and customer-specific requirements. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical or vocational training in CNC Machining, EDM, Tool & Die, or Manufacturing Technology is preferred. 3-5+ years of hands-on Sinker EDM experience in a precision manufacturing environment. Aerospace manufacturing experience strongly preferred. Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge. Experience with CNC programming and program editing. Knowledge of conversational or proprietary EDM controls is a plus. Strong understanding of electrode selection, setup, wear compensation, flushing, and EDM process parameters. Experience machining tight-tolerance components and complex geometries. Ability to use precision inspection equipment, including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, bore gauges, optical comparators, and CMMs. Experience with CAD/CAM systems such as Mastercam, GibbsCAM, Esprit, or equivalent is preferred. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently from drawings, CAD models, and process documentation. Preferred Aerospace Experience Candidates with experience manufacturing flight-critical, structural, engine, tooling, or other complex precision aerospace components are strongly preferred.
