Full Job Description CNC Lathe Setup Machinist Location:
West Haven, CT Pay:
$24 to $34/hr, based on experience

This is a direct-hire opportunity in a job shop environment for someone who can set up CNC lathes, adjust tooling and offsets, read blueprints, and help keep production running accurately. This role is a good fit for someone with hands-on CNC lathe setup experience who is comfortable working from drawings, making adjustments, checking parts, and troubleshooting setup issues. Responsibilities Set up CNC lathes for production based on work orders, blueprints, and engineering drawings. Select, install, and align cutting tools, fixtures, and workholding devices. Touch off tools and adjust offsets to meet quality requirements. Input and verify machine parameters and offsets. Perform trial runs and make adjustments to meet tolerances and surface finish requirements. Use precision measuring tools to check parts throughout production. Troubleshoot setup issues and work with the team to improve efficiency. Maintain setup documentation for quality and repeatability. Perform basic machine checks and routine maintenance as needed. Follow all safety procedures and company policies. Requirements Previous CNC lathe setup experience is required. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions. Experience setting tools, touching off tools, and adjusting offsets. Basic understanding of G-code and CNC machine operation. Experience using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators, and optical comparators. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability. Preferred Experience Fanuc control experience. Technical or vocational training in CNC machining or manufacturing. Experience in a job shop or precision machining environment. Experience with tight-tolerance work. Continuous improvement mindset.
